Our clients love the Genesis framework, but many of them aren’t coders and don’t want to spend time researching how to make simple changes to their websites. After many requests for an easy way to edit the default footer credits on Genesis child themes, we decided it was time to create a plugin.
The Genesis Custom Footer plugin adds a simple metabox to your Genesis Theme Settings page. You can enter anything you want (including HTML) in this box and it will output to your Genesis footer.
How to Use the Plugin
Once you’ve installed and activated Genesis Custom Footer, head to Genesis > Theme Settings in your site’s dashboard. You’ll see a section toward the top where you can add your custom text (click to view larger):
You can use any of the existing Genesis shortcodes (requires StudioPress login) in your footer, as well as plain text or HTML. Save your settings and you’re all done!
